Shocked! 5 tire companies have been investigated for manipulation of price increases

Following a few days ago, the Competition Commission of India (CCI) announced a news that it found that five tire manufacturers and the Indian Tire Industry Association violated the provisions of the Indian competition law, and the six tire-related units were fined.

Recently, South Africa also discovered tire companies that violated competition law, in order to resolve the price manipulation allegations of four companies including Apollo South Africa Tire Co., Ltd.Goodyear South Africa Co., Ltd.Continental South Africa Tire Co., Ltd., and Bridgestone South Africa tire Co., Ltd. The South African Competition Commission has held a series of hearings, which are scheduled to take place throughout February.

It is known that the respondents mentioned above are members of SATMC, and the price manipulation case was completed with the help of the South African Tyre Manufacturers Association (SATMC).

More than a decade ago, fleet owner Parsons Transportation Ltd. filed a complaint alleging price-fixing by local tire manufacturers.

At that time, the South African Competition Commission investigated the South African Tire Manufacturers Association and the four tire companies mentioned above and found that they did indeed manipulate the prices of passenger cars, light trucks, buses, off-road, agricultural and engineering tires.

To this violation of competition law, the four tire companies denied the complaints against them.
